Abstract

Gambling has become an activity that most Nigerian youths and adolescents engaged in, with accessibility due to available internet. This study, therefore, aimed to investigate the patterns and prevalence of gambling behaviour among youths in south east Nigeria. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of sports gambling behaviour in Dunukofia Local Government area of Anambra state. Five research questions were formulated to guide the study, the study adopted descriptive survey research design, simply random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used to select one thousand, five hundred and eight {1508} respondents, the instrument for data collection was a wellstructured questionnaire, the data collected was analyzed using statistical mean. It was discovered that sports gambling has a lot of adverse effects on minors. Based on these findings, everyone has to stand up against this canker-worm, before it destroys the whole state.
