THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROSTITUTION AND CRIME I

Abstract

Over the first past decade the first practice of prostitution has dramatically and gradually changed to another form. Recently there is increment of crime in the country. This present study examines the first relationship between prostitution and crime. This study is qualitative research, and it used in-depth interviews. 42 young prostitutes were interviewed in four different cities in Nigeria, Awka Anambra State, Warri Delta State, Owerri Imo State, and Benin City Edo State. The finding result of this study demonstrated that there is positive relationship between prostitution and crime. The study discovered that prostitutes engaged in drug business, and kidnapping.
