EMPLOYEES’ MOTIVATION AND PERFORMANCE IN FIRMS: A THEORETICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract
The importance of motivation in any organization cannot be underestimated as they play a key role in motivating employees at all level in order to increase performance. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between motivation and performance. Three motivation theories: expectancy, equity and human capital theory were used in the analyses of the study. The study found out that there is a significant relationship between motivation and performance. The study concludes that effort should be aimed at motivating employees at all level in order to increase performance.
