Abstract

Distribution of school facilities has been a challenge with many schools from different States in Nigeria. It has been observed that school facilities have not been equitably distributed to schools even when there is evidence of funding of the capital projects. Equitable distribution of school facilities is a prerequisite to the realization of educational goals and objectives. This paper discussed the equitable distribution of school facilities within schools in Nigeria, its challenges and the way forward..There are growing concerns among Education stakeholders and Practitioners about the present poor state of Infrastructural facilities available for teaching and learning in Secondary Schools across the Country. The paper examines the concepts of school facilities, classification of school facilities. Highlights were made on problems of facilities distribution in schools which includes poor budgetary allocation to the education sector, poor human resource recruitment, incorrect data, politicization, poor supervision, and rural-urban migration. Some ways to ensure equitable distribution of facilities were highlighted and discussed.
