Abstract

Every religion originates within a given socio-cultural context which, one way or the other, exerts some form of influence on the said religion. Hence, some scholars argue that “all religions arise out of the deification of someone’s nationalism.” ! That is why, in most religions, those who are categorized as saints and prophets are those who are said to have done great and admirable things within the context of the people in question. To this effect, it has been argued that there is nothing like a “universal religion” because of the fact that every religion is a reflection of a particular cultural and historical experience of a given group of people.
