Abstract

This paper critically reflects on the challenges of dysfunctional leadership and followership in Nigeria, identified as the roots causes of the country's numerous sociopolitical problems. These regrettable problems, among which are, corruption, human rights abuses and violations, poverty, absence of constitutionalism, comatose educational sector, ethno-religious crisis, crimes and banditry, have ruinously consigned the country to hopeless states of disharmony and underdevelopment. The paper recommends new approaches to leadership and followership roles, grounded in servanthood, ethical and moral values as a way of ensuring socio-political stability and development in Nigeria. The critical, analytic, and prescriptive methods of research are employed in the study
