METAPHYSICS OF NUMBERS IN PYTHAGOREAN PHILOSOPHY AND ITS INFLUENCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF ALGORITHMS IN AI
Abstract
The metaphysical exploration of numbers in Pythagorean philosophy has long fascinated scholars for its blend of mathematical rigor and mystical insight. Pythagoras and his followers posited that numbers constitute the fundamental reality, underpinning the structure and harmony of the cosmos. This Pythagorean philosophical vision transcends mere arithmetic, entrenching numbers with symbolic and ontological signicance. In contemporary times, these ideas nd a striking parallel in the eld of articial intelligence (AI), where algorithms structured sequences of numerical computations govern machine learning and decision-making processes. This paper examines the metaphysical underpinnings of numbers in Pythagorean thought and traces their conceptual inuence on the development of algorithms in AI. By analyzing the principles of harmony, order and universality inherent in Pythagorean philosophy, the paper argues that these ideas have indirectly shaped modern computational logic and methodologies, fostering advancements in pattern recognition, neural networks and algorithmic optimization.
