Abstract
Over the years, supports for paintings and materials have basically been realized through the generally accepted traditional canvas and stretchers. In the search _for self, and creative filfillment, artists have constantly experimented with a wide variety of materials. Experimentation and exploration have led to the diversification of standants of expression in art and creativity whether in sculpture, painting, photography textile and so on. Transformation of waste and .found objects into aesthetic .forms expresses he boundless capacity of human imagination as well as the individual creative potentials in manipulating such material. Unconventional materials are simply non-traditional elements used for art creation and other purposes. The art of upcycling waste materials for creative use aligns with the notion of sustainable consumption and the main idea is to revitalize old materials into new assemblages and suggesting new ways of using them while at the same time, keeping their-essence intact. ibis paper explores a departure from the usual existing methods, supports and surfaces for painting to a diverse and un-conventional technique of upcycling old newspapers othenvise termed as waste with compatible resources to serve the _fimctionahties of a new canvas.
