Abstract

This essay examines the interconnectedness of synodality, eco-conversion, and Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si', specifically emphasising their importance for the Church in Africa. It contends that comprehending these ideas together provides a persuasive vision for the Church's mission in advancing social justice and environmental sustainability in Africa. The scope of this essay encompasses the definition of synodality, eco-conversion, and Laudato Si', utilising pertinent theological and social principles from Catholic Social Teachings. Subsequently, it analyses the significance of these topics for the African Church, explicitly emphasising the continent's ecological and social obstacles. This analysis will examine the relationships between synodality, eco-conversion, and Laudato Si', demonstrating how these ideas might enhance the involvement and ecological consciousness of the Church in Africa. The study ends by examining the prospects and difficulties of applying these principles in the African setting, highlighting the significance of education and partnership in promoting a synodal and environmentally equitable African Church.
