Abstract

This study explores the relationship between risk tolerance and decision-making dynamics within Lagos' fintech sector, particularly in the context of intrapreneurship. Intrapreneurship, characterized by fostering entrepreneurial behaviour within established organizations, plays a crucial role in driving innovation while minimizing the risks typically associated with startups. The research identifies key factors contributing to effective intrapreneurial decision-making, including agility, collaboration, risk tolerance, data-driven insights, and visionary thinking. Organizational culture and leadership also emerge as critical components in fostering an intrapreneurial environment. The study employs a conceptual review approach to investigate risk tolerance and intrapreneurial decision-making dynamics. It critically examines existing literature on the factors influencing intrapreneurial activities and risk tolerance within Nigeria's fintech landscape, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of their interactions and impact on the sector's growth and innovation. The research relies on a variety of literature sources, including primary data from industry reports and surveys, secondary academic sources such as journal articles and conference papers, and tertiary sources like newspapers and reputable online publications. Key findings reveal that fintech firms often struggle with regulatory uncertainties while balancing calculated risks with potential innovations. The study offers practical recommendations for improving risk management frameworks, such as fostering cross-departmental collaboration, establishing supportive recognition systems, and promoting autonomy among employees to pursue innovative ideas. This research contributes to the intrapreneurship and risk management literature by providing theoretical insights into decision-making dynamics within fintech firms. Ultimately, it underscores the importance of balancing risk and innovation to ensure the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of Lagos' fintech sector
