Résumé

The Covid-19 Pandemic has had serious implications on people’s lives globally. South Africa, like many countries around the globe, has not been spared. While most South Africans were negatively affected by Covid 19 lockdown, the latter has also brought relief in other people’s lives, particularly blacks, where about 18% of the population already lived under poverty line. The implementation of Social Relief Distress (SRD) and increase in social grants, family togetherness, less gang violence, ban on alcohol and tobacco sale, distribution of food parcels, sheltering the homeless and the support of informal sector and SMMEs were some of the things which brought happiness in other people’s lives. This study attempts to examine and analyze how Covid-19 lockdown has positively changed the lives of the South Africans, focusing on black communities
