Abstract

This paper examines reflection over the perception of Christians about Islamic penal law. There is no human society free from criminal activities. Human beings are socially inclined to wanting to have everything to themselves, due to egoism, greed and passion, but endangering the lives of others irrespective of what the repercussions could be. Christians and Muslims do not always agree on what should be done to people who commit crime or sin. This paper adopted analytical method of research as it used primary and secondary sources of Islam and other relevant literature. The findings revealed that all criminalities are threats to human societies. Islam as a religion not only abhors all sorts of criminal activities but it has assigned penalties or punishments to every crime; the aim is to ensure peaceful living and co-existence. The paper recommends that Christians and Muslims should collaborate to apply the rulings of scripture to all perpetrators of crime so that there will be peace and security in all communities.
