Abstract

Even though the presence of Africans at Vatican II was marginal (only 61 African delegates), its impact on the African Church was tremendous. Vatican II not only opened the door of the Catholic Church for fresh air to come in, but it also impacted the African church significantly, leading to the emergence of African Catholicism. African Catholicism has become a major contributor to World Christianity. A field of study that looks at the phasing out of Christendom and the emergence of diverse forms of Christianity globally.
