Translating Variegated Texts with the Aid of Artificial Intelligence
A New World Order in Translation Industry
Abstract
The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning has generated enormous interests and polemics in translation activity. Translation studies, an interdisciplinary discipline applicable to translation, include the automation process of translatinhbg texts from one language to another. Artificial intelligence (AI) has created substantial innovative and transformative advantages in translation. It has simplified hitnherto unpleasant, tedious processes associated with traditional translation. But criticisms by stakeholders in translation activity continue to trail automated translation of texts across a wide spectrum of professions. These criticisms basically centre on intelligibility and context, casting doubts on quality of translation outputs. But a synergy of both past and contemporary cutting-edge researches on machine translation through neural artificial Intelligence has engendered empirical-based interventions to improve translation outputs. The thrust of this paper is to expose the milestone innovations of artificial intelligence in the translation industry, a phenomenon that has permeated other professions.
