Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The Nnamdi Azikiwe Journal of Philosophy NAJP is a peer reviewed biannual Journal publishing valuable contributions on any aspect of Philosophy. NAJP invites the submission of articles, book reviews, discussions, responses and notices from professional philosophers. It is particularly interested in publishing contributions by new authors who pursue their academic development. The principal aim of NAJP is to promote philosophy and development as well as the best of the living African philosophical and scientific tradition, especially the school of analytic African philosophy. NAJP is edited and published by the Department of Philosophy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. The Nnamdi Azikiwe Journal of Philosophy is published twice a year. Submission of manuscript is understood to imply that the paper is original, has not already been published as a whole or in substantial part elsewhere, and is not currently under consideration by any other journal.

FORMAT GUIDELINES
The journal may not accept submissions that do not conform to these guidelines:
The initial mode of contact should be the submission of copy by email attachment and three hard copies by post.
In order that manuscript may be blind-reviewed, we request that names of authors and their institutional affiliations do not appear on manuscripts or the electronic copy. However, a covering letter should include the title of the paper and all useful contact information- address, fax, phone numbers and email address, etc. In
certain cases, the editor-in-chief may require that this be done before the paper is further considered.
No manuscripts will be returned once sent for review, whether they scaled through the review process or not.
Articles may contain minimum of 4000 words and maximum of 8000 words, including footnotes.
Book reviews may not be longer than 2000 words.
A brief Abstract of not more than 150 words is required at the beginning of the paper.
Submissions should be 12 point type size, and double-spaced.
Endnotes are referred to footnotes. They should be used sparingly and numbered consecutively.
All references should followAPACitation style (6th Ed.)

EVALUATION POLICY
When papers are sent in, the referees receive blinded versions of their papers
Referees' reports are sent to the authors if the referrers agree, though in the interest of speed referees may give brisk verdicts for the Editor-in-chief's eyes only.
Suggestions for revision are passed on to the authors if the editor thinks the comments would be useful to the authors.
Final decision about acceptance will be within four weeks.
If you do not hear from us within that period, do not hesitate to contact us. Once accepted, the paper gets published alongside others within months.
Occasionally, papers are called by the Editor-in-Chief.
Contributors' will receive a set of proofs, which will require immediate correction and change of style and content will not be allowed at this stage.
Authors will receive one hard copy of the printed journal and a PDF of the printed work by mail.
