DEVELOPMENT AND ITS MANY FACETS: A SEARCH FOR THE IDEAL
Abstract
Generally, a theory is a conjecture or proposition accepted in view of a given operation. Thus, “a theory is an assumption or a system of assumptions, accepted principles and rules of procedure based on limited information or knowledge devised to analyse, predict, or otherwise explain the nature of a specified set of phenomena or abstract reasoning.”1 Theories of development, therefore, refer to the divergent views regarding the nature and status of development.
