Abstract

Humanism have dismissed metaphysics as a meaningless, fruitless venture; a sound fury exercise, signifying nothing. Progress in science has offered many benefits over the course of human history, and has also enabled us to conquer some previous limitations. Now, the problem is, since humanism has gotten an answer to virtually all aspects of human endeavor which was from the status quo, left to the exclusive preserve of the divine and the supreme beings, then, does this imply an invitation to abrogate any pre-informed knowledge and recourse one has about the divine? What is the place of values and selfworth in an age science has promised much ease and convenience? Does religion, moral awareness still make sense? Does removing God from the picture solve a lot of problems? These and other problems are what the researcher is anxious about in order to give humanity a new dimension of looking out to the world. The method of analysis have been employed in this research work. Our finding have shown that notwithstanding the unquantifiable positive impact of humanism, which follows from the amelioration of the standard of living of human beings, there is a clear and unflinching denial in the existence or belief in any God or supreme being. I therefore recommend that proper values should be placed on the human person who should be seen as an end in itself and not as a means to an end.
