Abstract

This paper explores the synthesis of progressive and behaviourist approaches within the philosophy of education. It investigates how these contrasting educational paradigms can be blended to establish a coherent pedagogical framework. Utilizing qualitative research methods, including an extensive literature review, the study examines the historical origins and philosophical underpinnings of both progressive and behaviourist ideologies. Key aspects explored include their historical perspectives, philosophical implications, and the challenges and opportunities inherent in their integration. The findings indicate that a balanced synthesis of progressive and behaviourist principles can enhance student engagement and critical thinking in educational contexts. Despite challenges such as resource disparities, the study concludes that an integrated approach shows promise in fostering inclusive and effective educational practice
