ROLLO MAY’S THEORY OF MAN IN THE WORLD: A CRITIQUE
Abstract
The human experience is often marked by feelings of anxiety and despair when confronted with the unknown. Rollo May, a highly influential philosopher, introduced the concept of freedom and the responsibility that comes with it. This research will employ an analytic approach to examine May's theory on the existential dilemma faced by individuals in creating meaning. By using this method of analysis, it was discovered that this method helped in discovering that human beings are inherently driven by anxiety and desire. The existential approach is a viable way to understand human behavior and motivations. I now recommend that this research will Build and nurture relationships based on trust, empathy, and understanding. More still, it can provide individuals with a sense of belonging and support, which are essential for personal growth and well-being and better human relationship.
