Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The Editors accept papers derived from original research findings, based on issues, opinions and ideas, emanating from the history and theory of art, the visual, creative, fine, industrial, and applied arts, Building, Architecture, Glass Technology, the Humanities, and the Social Sciences. Collaborative multi-disciplinary papers, reports of research in progress, or studies from the field, reports on artwork undertaken in the studio, reviews of art exhibitions, and latest art books are also acceptable, and can be sent to the editors all year round for assessment and publication on an annual schedule. Ensure that such manuscripts have not been submitted elsewhere for publication or being considered for publication.
Manuscripts should be written in English Language and typeset in Microsoft Word 1997-2003 Compatibility Mode using double line spacing format, Times New Roman font type, 12 points font size and must not be more than fifteen (15) A4 pages, inclusive of all illustrations, photographs and references. Abstracts should be between 150-250 words with 5 keywords. Illustrations must be clear and all photographic material sharp and in full colour, where possible at a 300dpi resolution. Each article is allowed a maximum of five(5) colour images; any illustration/image beyond that number will attract an extra charge of N5,000.00 (Five Thousand Naira Only). All illustrations, drawings, photographs should be labeled as Figures (Fig.) and numbering should be in Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, etc.). Graphs, charts and tables should be labeled as graphs, charts and tables and numbered in Arabic numerals as well.
Proper adherence to documentation of ideas is required, so that the Faculty of Environmental Design will not be held responsible for copyright breaches. Authors are free to use the most current editions of the APA, MLA or Chicago referencing styles. Each article shall be entitled to only a copy of the journal. Additional copies would be sold at N10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira Only) for additional co-authors, exclusive of postage – which will be based on prevailing market rates.
Assessment and Publication Fees
Authors are expected to submit an electronic copy of their paper as attachment via email to the Editor, SPACE Journal of Contemporary Arts and Design Issues, using the following email address: mrblaisegbaden@gmail.com, and copy the Editor, chikeobeagu@gmail.com, together with a non- refundable fee of N5,000.00 (Five Thousand Naira Only) for assessment. Once the article is assessed and found publishable, a clean copy should be submitted for publication together with a N30,000.00 (Thirty Thousand Naira Only) publication fee deposited into SPACE Journal Account.

Important Dates:
SPACE Journal is Published Biannually = May Edition and November Edition, however, papers can be sent to the Editors all-year round.
Deadline for submission of entries for May edition is May 5, while November 5 is deadline for the November edition.
