ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION: ARTISTS RESPONSE IN THE 21 CENTURY IN NIGERIA

Abstract

In recent times, due to urbanization, the increase in waste has escalated sporadically. The production of waste is rising day by day, while its safe management and disposal hasn't been given proper attention. The littering of wastes in the environment is worrisome due to its negative consequences. Waste pollution is one of the contemporary environmental issues all over the world. Several countries across the globe are on the rise to finding lasting solutions to repercussions of waste in the environment. Most of the waste that man has ever made still exist, they do not decompose, they rather break into smaller pieces and remain in our environment. Waste management has become a great challenge for countries in the world and Nigeria is not exempted. The research therefore, finds out how Nigerian artists are using their different artistic skills and power to combat, promote and preserve lives of people through waste recycling and usage.
