Professional Development Need, Business Education Lecturers and sustainable Development
Abstract
The study focused on module building skills needs of lecturers for utilisation of e-learning platform in universities in Enugu State. The study was carried out in Enugu state. The study adopted survey research design. One research question and two hypotheses guided the study. The population for the study was 2,994 lecturers from three universities in Enugu state, with a sample of 400 respondents contacted through simple random approach. A structured questionnaire with 30-items was used to collect data for the study. The research instrument was face validated by three experts. Crombach Alpha technique was adopted in determining the internal consistency which yielded a reliability index of 0.89. Four hundred copies of the instrument were administered (through direct contact) on the respondents while 364 copies were successfully retrieved presenting 91% return rate. Data were analysed using mean ( x ) to answer the research question, standard deviation (SD) to test the level of disparity of the responses of the respondents and t-test to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 () level of significance. The study identified skills for module building in eLearning platforms in universities. Based on the findings of this study, the study recommends that the universities adopting eLearning platforms for instructional delivery should equip the lecturers with the identified module building skills. This could be done through training and retraining or in-service training for the lecturers in universities to impart the identified skills.
