Strategies for Strengthening the Collaboration between Home Economics Programmes in Colleges of Education and Industry
Abstract
The study identified strategies that Home Economics can employ in strengthening the collaboration between Home Economics programmes in colleges of education and industry. The population for the study consist of 69 Home Economics education lecturers and Business education lecturers teaching in colleges of education and universities in Enugu State. The entire population of 69 lecturers were used. There was no sampling. A questionnaire was administered to them on the various possible ways of strenghtening relations between Home Economics programmes, businesses, and industries. All copies of the questionnaire were returned and were properly completed. The mean was used to analyse the data. Several findings were made including, open house events to which people from industries and businesses were invited; using persons from industries and businesses as guest speakers in school programme activities among others. Based on the findings, recommendations were made.
