Abstract
This paper titled “Ibibio Indigenous Environmental Ethics” explores why contemporary environmental problems had no place in the Ibibio indigenous environment. To achieve this aim, the study employs the methods of analysis and criticism to interrogate the subject. The study discovered that Ibibio's had a unique environmental ethics which influenced their attitude towards the environment. This approach ensured that the environment was saved from some of the contemporary environmental challenges faced by human society today. The need for an environmental ethics or attitude to remedy these contemporary issues became pertinent. The paper recommends Ibibio Indigenous conservative attitude towards the environment as a framework which priorities stability and preservation of the environment. Such conservativism does not overlook the fact that a thorough going application may seem unachievable because of the demands of contemporary age and the need for rapid technological advancement. But it will ensure some form of balance between contemporary demands and the need to keep the environment safe.
