EXPLORING AFRICAN WORLDVIEW AS A PHILOSOPHY: A CRITICAL REFLECTION ON THE FEATURES, VALUES, AND IMPACTS ON THE CONTEMPORARY AFRICAN PHILOSOPHY

This examines African worldview, explores the features, values, its conceptual underpinnings, and the profound impacts on contemporary African philosophy and the world in its entirety. African worldview which deeply rooted in communalism, spirituality, and harmony with nature, lays the foundation for understanding the cultural, ethical, and epistemological frameworks that shape the contemporary African people's life style. The features of African worldview included the interconnectedness, relationality, and the integration of material and immaterial worlds.The core value "Ubuntu", humanity and interconnectedness, addresses the issues of communal well-being over that of individuals. African worldview has significantly impacted contemporary African philosophy. It provides the unique lenses through which the critical issues such as identity, justice, development issues, etc are addressed. The study highlights how the synthesis of traditional African values and the modern philosophical thought pattern fosters an evolving study that resonates within the global philosophical traditions. Exploring these, this paper will contribute to deeper apprehension of African philosophy's relevance in addressing not only the modern African challenges, but that of the globalized world.
