COSTUME MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES IN AFRICAN THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE: THE EXAMINATION OF NANABENYIN KWEKU WARTEMBERG’S CORPSE’S COMEDY

Costume Management is an indispensable art in the theatre as it reveals the aesthetic embedded in a theatrical production. This paper critically focuses on the analysis of the use of costume in the theatrical performance, the techniques and means of managing the costumes using the performance Nanabenyin Kweku Wartemberg “Corpses Comedy” as a micro-study with the objectives of examining the role of costumes in African play production. Through the adoption of performance analysis method of research, the paper discovers that costume management is an important aspect of play production which allows the costumier to effectively plan, control, coordinate and organize all the process of costume distribution during the performance. In conclusion, the paper recommends that for the achievement of any successful play production, the costumier must engage in proper costume management.
