Abstract

No society can thrive well and function effectively without music. The value and impact of music to human and national development cannot be overlooked. Therefore, music influences emotional expression, used for entertainment, communication, education, correction, social integration, aesthetic 'expression and vocational enterprises. Using the method of critical analysis, the researcher discovers the challenges and roles of music to human and national development and recommends the inclusion of music education in schools as an efficient vehicle for transformation capable of inducing human and national development.
