摘要
This paper is an attempt to critically assess the achievements and challenges in Mr. Buhari's eight yearspresidency in Nigeria. The objective is to know if Mr. Buhari was able to successfully achieve his three-point agenda in 2015 and his campaign promises in 2019 or not. Employing the method of critical analysis, this paper critically assesses Mr. Buhari's performances throughout the eight years in office to actually see how his presidency impacted on the economy, security and infrastructure as he promised during his campaigns in 2015 and 2019 general elections. Mr. Muhammadu Buhari came up with three-point agenda; to revamp the economy, to fight corruption and to curb insecurity which was raising its ugly head in almost all the states in Nigeria. Now, the basic questions that propel this work are; what has become of the promises he made eight years ago? How did he utilize the power to transform Nigeria for eight years?Has Nigeria improved sinceAll Progressives' Congress (APC) defeated the then ruling party, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP)? This paper argues that Mr. Buharihaven spent eight years as the president of Nigeria has seen the nation wriggle through numerous challenges with insecurity, inflation and corruption at worse levels than he met themwhen the Peoples' Democratic Party under Good Luck Jonathan was in power. This paper argues that Nigerians were cajoled, brainwashed and deceived by APC's slogan of CHANGE ganished with Muhammadu Buhari's purported integrity. This work submits that the way forward for good governancein Nigeria is for our leaders to be sincere, dedicated, proactive, committed, patriotic and willing to treat all citizens equal.
